Award - Winning Dog Photographer in Billingshurst: Celebrating International Recognition
When I recently entered the Dog Photography Awards for the very first time, I was blown away by the results. Out of thousands of entries from all over the world, all five of my submitted photographs received recognition! Two images advanced to the second round to earn Honourable Mentions and three received official Nominations.
Before launching my photography career, I took my own puppy for her own studio session. I remember sitting there wondering if she was going to be too wild or if the session would be a total waste of time. We were training her, but as good as the training was at home, she would get so excited when we were out and about.
Now, as an award-winning dog photographer, I can tell you with complete confidence: you don't need to worry. Some of my absolute favourite, award-winning portraits came from dogs who spent 90% of the shoot running in circles! My job is to handle the timing, lighting and patience so you can just enjoy watching your dog have fun.
Here is what these recent awards actually mean for you and your dog's future photoshoot:
“But my dog will never sit still!”
This is the number one thing I hear from dog parents. You might look at portraits of a dog looking majestic and think, "My dog would never do that."
Here is the secret behind those award-winning shots: they are often captured in a fraction of a second. You don't need a perfectly trained dog to get great photographs; you just need a photographer who understands their body language and knows how to work with their natural energy.
“My dog is nervous around new people”
To capture a dog’s true soul and personality, the exact quality international judges look for - the dog has to feel safe and relaxed. I won’t even pick up my camera until your dog has had time to explore and is comfortable around me and my equipment. These recognitions validate the time I take at the beginning of every session to let your dog do this and realise that a photoshoot is just a fun, low-pressure game.
“Will the photos of my dog actually look better than my phone photos?”
Smartphone cameras are great for everyday moments, but stepping in front of a professional lens should yield something you'd proudly hang on your wall. The Dog Photography Awards judges evaluate lighting, composition and artistry at the highest level. You are investing in artwork that elevates your dog to a masterpiece.
“I’m worried that the session will be stressful for me”
If you are stressed, your dog will be stressed. My goal is to completely remove the pressure from your shoulders. I’ll handle the lighting, the angles, and the funny noises to get their attention and you can provide the treats to reward them throughout!
Every award-winning photo starts with a dog who is loved. If you’ve been putting off a photoshoot because you were worried your dog wouldn't "behave," let this be your sign to go for it.
“Her patience and skills with my dog were incredible! No way did I think we would achieve the pictures that we did.”
Thank you to the judges for this incredible honour and thank you to my clients for trusting me with their dogs!
