Capturing Sandy’s Infectious Smile: A Dog Photography Session in Loxwood

Sandy, an 8 month old rescue puppy who has grown up at The Pawfect Day Doggy Daycare in Horsham, West Sussex walked into the studio and immediately owned the room.

If you ask her owner, what makes Sandy so special… it has to be her infectious smile. That joy radiates the second you meet her and it set the tone for an incredible pet photography session here in Loxwood.
“Sandy (and her sister Mabel) are my whole world, she’s a huge part of my life! She brings me so much love and ALOT of entertainment every single day. I honestly couldn’t imagine my life without her”

Dog photography studio sessions are taken at the dog’s pace …

When Sandy arrived at the studio, we didn’t rush straight into photographing her. Instead, she had plenty of time to sniff and investigate and get completely comfortable in the space. This part of the session is different for each dog and the settling-in time is done at their pace.

By the time we were ready to start shooting, Sandy was relaxed, curious and feeling right at home. We desensitised her to the studio lights and she couldn’t have been less bothered about any of it. There was just one tiny plot twist: because she was so unfazed by the lights, the usual funny noises and squeakers didn’t perk her ears up or get that big smile we were after.

Cue the secret weapon - peanut butter (dog-friendly, of course!)

Once a little dab of peanut butter came into play, we had her full, undivided attention. It kept her happily occupied right where we needed her, allowing to capture those sharp, crystal-clear portraits that showcase her signature grin.
